Woodend Beach harness racing trainer Matt Purvis heads to Addington tomorrow afternoon with five runners and some hope for a winner or two.

Philadelphia Filly (Betterthancheddar) draws wide at seven in Race Two and has the services of stable junior driver Alana Cameron.

“First day at Westport was really good. The second day she got a pass mark. Reefton is one of those tracks that it’s hard to make ground wide. She’s come through that trip well and her work’s been nice. She didn’t cop a great marble (draw) but hopefully they go hard and she can get over the top of them. She’s still immature and a lazy wee thing but once the penny drops she’ll win a few more races,” Purvis said.

Purvis gears up two runners in the Junior Drivers race (Race Four).

Victor Bravo (Sir Lincoln) will be reined by Andrew Fitzgerald and draws barrier seven. He’s a three win horse and is in a winnable grade.

“He didn’t have a lot of luck last time and hasn’t had much luck the whole way through. He gets another wide marble but it’s a smaller field than he struck the other day. If he rips home as good as he did the other day he shouldn’t be too far away.”

Purvis’s second runner Move It On Over (A Rocknroll Dance) has solid form and draws the inside of the second row. He’ll be driven by Korbyn Newman.

“He’s racing in good form and another one that hasn’t had a lot of luck. From that sort of draw Korbyn’s got options. Move It On Over is my best bet.”

In Race Six Lifes A Cabaret (Bettor’s Delight) has the services of Blair Orange and should have improved after her last start third at Oamaru.

“That was her first run for over a year and she blew out a fraction. The run tightened her up and her work’s been a lot better since. Hopefully with a bit of luck she should pick up a bit more money.”

Purvis also starts Tyke (Terror To Love) and Alana Cameron takes the drive from barrier seven.

“The West Coast trip was trainer error. I should have gone over earlier. She was on a good grass paddock and tied up badly on the first day. We took her off the grass and her run on the second day was better. Back at the beach again and her work’s been super this week. She’ll be driven for one run.”
