Former Southland star harness racing three-year Ragazzo Mach is set down to trial on Sunday in Western Australia for his new trainer Mike Reed.
āHe was ready to trial a month ago, but he got an abscess in his foot. It broke out and put a big hole in the foot, so we had to back off him. Heāll be a bit underdone for the trial, but itāll sharpen him up,ā Reed said.
Reed added that heās extremely impressed with what heās seen.
āIāve never driven him in fast work but Mark, my son has. He came off the track on Sunday morning and said ā ā¦. heās a nice horse.ā
Reed said providing he pulls up well after the trial, Ragazzo Mach will go to the races in a week at either Pinjarra or Gloucester Park.
āHeās a horse with a good attitude and nicely gaited. I was talking to Nathan (Williamson ā former trainer), and he said anything he does on the track heāll do twice as much in a race. He really switches on.ā
Reed said races such as the Four-Year-Old Gold Nugget will be targetted and if he shapes up, he may take him east.
