Talented gelding Love N The Port became the second harness racing winner of the Group 1 $186,000 Rowe Cup sired by Haras Des Trotteurs’ flagship Love You when he won the great race at Alexandra Park, Auckland recently (May 26). He joins Monbet, who won the 2016 edition.
Love N The Port, a five-year-old, led for the first lap, handed up and then outsprinted his rivals on the passing lane. Eurokash (by Love You) finished third.

Love N The Port has now won eight races and $226,628 in stakes and is the second richest trotter in New Zealand this season.
On the other side of the Tasman, Love You’s champion daughter Queen Elida continued her dominance of the Free-for-all ranks in Victoria, coming from second last and peeling off a final 800 in 56.8 seconds to capture the Lenin FFA at Melton. She has won five of her last six starts.
Other recent winners by Love You, who is second on the sires’ list in both NZ and Australia, have been the two-year-old Kyvalley Michael (2 wins from 2 starts), Luvaflair, Lovelorn, Salvo and Kink.
The Haras Des Trotteurs stallion Orlando Vici, who is enjoying his best season ever, led in a swag of winners on either side of the ditch last week. In Australia, he was represented by the 1:56.6 Albion Park winner Adelle, the three-year-old filly Rapid Return, Royal Dan and Orlando Storm, while in NZ, his winners included Run Forest Run and Downtown Orlando.
Third on this year’s Australian all aged list, Orlando Vici has sired 22 individual winners from 25 starters for an average of an amazing $72,000 per starter.
Used To Me, The Best Madrik and En Solitaire, who are members of the Haras Des Trotteurs sire roster, were represented by smart winners last week.
Used To Me, the sire of 25 winners from 43 starters, left the Victorian provincial winners Da Prez and Stockman Peter, The Best Madrik sired the Winton (NZ) victor Madrik and En Solitaire the very promising three-year-old filly Sister Evarista.
