The Southern Oaks, Supremacy and Country Cup series have just a few more weeks before eligible starters for the individual harness racing finals are finalised.
The Southern Belle Series ran its last heat at Wyndham on Saturday (Mar. 18) and the final for that series will be held at the Winton meeting on 13th April.
The leading qualifiers for the $30,000 final over 1609 metres are Tayla Me (American Ideal), Folklore (Sportswriter), Joes Rock (Racing Hill), Mighthavtime (Betterthanchedder), Boudica (Sportswriter) and Better’s Tart (Bettor’s Delight).

In the Alabar Southern Supremacy Stakes Series where horses have to race in two heats to qualify, qualifiers are Captain Tom (Captaintreacherous), Dalton Shard (Always B Miki) and Borrisokane (Sportswriter). A host of other runners will need to start in one more heat to fully qualify, including With Style (Bettor’s Delight), Ohoka Le Bron (Rock N Roll Heaven), Da Vinci (Art Major), Rakadan (He’s Watching), Incredible Miki (Always B Miki), Ohoka Connor (Sunshine Beach) and Coney Island Lou (Sweet Lou).


Just two more heats will offer the opportunity to qualify in the Southern Supremacy Series: Wairio on 30th March and Winton on the 13th of April. The $45,000 Group Two final will be held on Diamonds Day at Ascot Park on Sunday 23rd April.
In the Nevele R/Macca Lodge Southern Oaks Series Sweet Diamond (Sweet Lou) is the leading qualifier followed by Betta Watch Out (He’s Watching). Other qualifiers are What A Minx (Art Major), Beach Day (Sunshine Beach) and Ultimate Challenge (Bettor’s Delight). Those with points but needing to start once more are Treacherous Gall (Captaintreacherous), Carrera Sunset (Downbytheseaside), Betting Sensation (Betting Line), Sister Cherie (Bettor’s Delight) and Black Pearl (Bettor’s Delight).

There are two more heats to be held for the Southern Oaks – the first will be at Wyndham on 6th April and the final heat will be at Winton on the 13th of April. The $45,000 Group Two final will be held on Diamonds Day on Sunday 23rd April at Ascot Park.
With one more heat of the Southern Country Cups left (Winton on the 13th April) the top fifteen qualifiers are Robyn’s Playboy (24), Franco Norton (20), Got You Covered (20), Wheels Of Fortune (15), Star Magic (10), Better’s Tart (10), Get Up N Dance (10), Nutcracker (10), Mach Quillan (9), Boudica (8), The Conqueror (5), American Me (5), She’s Tough (5), Macandrew Aviator (5) and Jovial Joy (5).

The $40,000 final will also be held on Diamonds Day.
