Tomorrow night Addington will present the first heat of the Magness Benrow Sires’ Stakes for Three Year Old harness racing fillies.
A background of tomorrow night’s field of six in barrier order:
Queen Of Swords (Bettor’s Delight) trained by Robert and Jenna Dunn is out of a full sister to fifteen win pacer Henry Hubert and without getting clear, ran a tidy fourth in the Oamaru heat of the Southern Oaks which was won by Ladyship placegetter Ruby Roe.
Bubble Me (Downbytheseaside) trained by Mark Jones is a great granddaughter of Scuse Me. Bubble Me has raced once at Kaikoura as a two year old, finishing sixth. She was sighted at a recent trial at Rangiora and after getting on one rein wasn’t driven out to finish sixth.
Tom Twidle trains Woodlea Diamond (He’s Watching), which raced as a two year before being spelled. She’s had two trials this month. At her last trial at Rangiora she led and was run down for a close second. Her granddam Woodlea Life won eleven races including the 2003 Delightful Lady Classic.
Ultimate Seisation (Ultimate Machete) trained by Brendon Hill has Nemesis ‘s Choice as her granddam. She won five of her sixteen starts and finished second in the 2000 Southland Oaks. Ultimate Seisation has had six starts and has been placed three times. At her last start and her first run for three weeks, she was hampered at the 1000 metres and over raced through the middle part.
Anytime At All (Bettor’s Delight) trained by Barry Ward is the most experienced of the six runners and from fourteen starts has won once and been placed twice. She raced in the G1 Ace Of Diamonds as a two year old. Her dam Going To California won six races and is the half-sister to Paradise City which also won six.
The Steve and Amanda Telfer trained Aardie B Miki (Always B Miki) has won two races. At her last start at Addington in January she had an elevated heart rate and slow recovery when finishing eighth. She’s been to the trials at Rangiora and wasn’t extended. On the breeding side Aardie B Miki is a full sister to Aardie’s Express (13 wins) and Aardies Flash (2).
My finishing order is 1st Aardie B Miki, 2nd Queen of Swords, Ultimate Seisation 3rd. We’ll see.
Raced over 1980 metres, the Magness Benrow Sires’ Stakes for Three Year Old Fillies gets underway at 7:05pm and will be televised on Trackside One.
