Speedy trotter Muscle Mountain has run a quick time when winning tonight’s (Gr2) $50,000 Trotters Mile in the hands of harness racing driver Ben Hope at Cambridge Raceway.

Ben Hope pushed the Greg & Nina Hope trained son of Muscle Hill straight to the front off the mobile in the 1609m event, and sped along in the lead eventually winning comfortably in 1-55.0, only half a second outside Stent’s race record set in 2014.

“He has got phenomenal gate speed and drawing inside Bolt For Brilliance was the key,” Ben Hope said after the race.

“It is a great bunch of trotters and to win a race like this is pretty cool,” he said.

MUSCLE MOUNTAIN REPLAY

Bolt For Brilliance and driver Tony Herlihy held on for second and Temporale battled on well for third for driver Tony Cameron.

In the (Gr2) $50,000 Pacers Flying Mile Hot And Treacherous held the lead from barrier one and clung on to win, courtesy of an inch perfect steer from driver Maurice McKendry.

McKendry rated the son of Captaintreacherous beautifully in front and got a nose decision in front of a fast finishing A G’s White Socks and driver John Dunn. Spankem ran home well from the back for third in the hands of driver Mark Purdon.

The pacers mile was run in a slick 1-52.2
