Taking in trials can be a sound way of getting your next winner or value runner.
In Harnesslink Trial Time we look through those that have impressed at recent trials and should be on your radar when they appear in race day fields.
Rangiora trials on Wednesday the 22nd of September saw some strong heats and sound results. Weāve highlighted a few performers that caught our eye for you here.
Acento (Gold Ace – Mollie Mach) The D Thompson trained runner threatened to win a race at short notice last campaign but generally found one or two just a touch better than herself. She scored nicely enough in the 4th heat of the day from the front of things with her great advantage being the ability to get out from the mobile arm and get on the speed. Look for those leader-bias tracks to once again give her a chance at notching up a first victory. A nice prospect.
True Fantasy (Bettorās Delight – Secret Notion) Ā Thereās little fantasy about her talent and she was sound up the passing lane in limited room in the 8thĀ of day which was won by the Telfer trained Enjoy Me. A last start third in the Harness Jewels was most probably a little bit disappointing but her overall record is one of rare quality. Sheās yet to miss a placing in 6 career starts and looks likely to add to those impressive statistics again this time in.
Show Me The Gray. (Monkey Bones – Journey Without Maps) Ā This horse was caught late after stepping things out in front last time at Addington. A similar run transpired in the 10th heat of the day here although he held out challenges late to win over Tedesco and Ali Lindenny. The manners are generally sound which will always mean the horse needs to be respected from the tapes.
South Coast Arden (Somebeachsomewhere – Southwind Arden) Itās always exciting to see open-class types go around and the Mangos trained runner was very impressive in the last heat of the day winning from the front after a short skip early. He looked to do things with ease here holding out a decent field. Itāll be interesting to see how he handles the NZ Cup lead-ins as he has shown a real versatility in his career to date and could well be one of the leading chances come November. Bettor Twist and Need You Know also featured heavily here with both looking forward enough also.
