Southern harness about to ramp up

In the next three weeks Southern Harness Racing is ramping up with high stakes meetings at the Central Southland Raceway at Winton on Thursday and then Diamonds Day at Ascot Park ten days later.

The Winton card features the Group Two $70,000 Entain Two Year Old Fillies Mobile Pace, a new feature on the southern circuit. Also the time honoured Winton Cup which All Lay Carpets & Drapes will sponsor for the first time and the $40,000 VetSouth Equine- SSBA Southern Belle Speed Series Final.

Other races include heats of the Nevele R Stud/Macca Lodge Southern Oaks and the Alabar Southern Supremacy Stakes Series and the Murray Gray Memorial Two Year Old Colts & Geldings Mobile Pace.

Races at Winton will help shape the form for the tenth running of Diamonds Day at Ascot Park on Sunday 27th April.

The day will feature the $100,000 Group One Diamond Creek Farm Two Year Old Classic, the forty second running of the Alabar Southern Supremacy Stakes Final and the forty third Nevele R Stud/Macca Lodge Southern Oaks Final. The Supremacy and Oaks Finals are $60,000 features and carry Group Two status.

The supporting card will feature the Group Three Entain Two Year Old Mobile Trot, another new feature and the $40,000 Regent Car Court Southern Cups Final.

Regent Car Court have been involved in the Southern Cups Final since 2019.

The stakes for Diamonds Day will reach $420,000.
