Welcome in to our Speed in the breed article. A look into the successful families represented at the trials and workouts.
If you look in the sales catalogue or those that find fame out on the track in the feature races youāre likely to find that many of the champions of today come from great families of the past. Here we touch on that habit of success – how the great families continue to leave the very best.
For something a little bit different we head north tomorrow for a look into the trials and workouts to take place at Pukekohe – and thereās plenty of quality types to highlight too.
Ororo Munroe (Always B Miki – Judeās Gem) This 3yr-old filly from the stable of Adrienne Matthews should be one to follow in the months ahead. The breed goes back a most successful broodmare in Paysonās Gem (Paysonās Brother) with Rare Gem (11 wins) and Ebony Gem (13 wins) among the notable performers she left as a mother.
Ororo Munroe is the first foal out of the 3-time winning mare in Judeās Gem.

Manchesterās Moment (Muscle Mass – Manchester Lass) The Wallis and Hackett team certainly notch up the winners with their strong band of trotting types and Manchesterās Moment might be the next star that emerges from the stable. Dam Manchester Lass won 6 from 52 and also put in notable efforts in Group company, finishing 2nd to Great Getaway in the Northern Trotting Breeders Stakes of 2012.
As a mother Manchester has excelled with the 10-time winner Faith In Manchester being one of her impressive daughters, sheās also left the 7-time winner Manchester In Time .
This is a proven family of squaregaiters from a stable that knows their way around a good trotter.

Big Wheels (Bettorās Delight – Saucycullen) Connections of Big Wheels will be hoping he comes with a big motor. This Rogerson trained runner is due to go around in a qualifying pace tomorrow with the wider breed showing plenty on late.
Dam Saucycullen left the 9-time winner in Chimichurri as her first foal and has then immediately added to that strong start to the broodmare career by leaving the current performer in Tabasco, a horse that won as recently as mid-November – Big Wheels is a full brother to both of these race winners.
The wider family includes Jarcullembra, a 10-time winner by Christian Cullen.
Big Wheels keeps on turning.
