Welcome in to our Speed in the breed article. A look into the successful families represented at the trials and workouts.
If you look in the sales catalogue or those that find fame out on the track in the feature races youāre likely to find that many of the champions of today come from great families of the past. Here we touch on that habit of success – how the great families continue to leave the very best.
The trials and workouts taking place at Rangiora on the 27th of November include some real runners of interest when it comes to the power behind their respective bloodlines – these would include
Dancing N Heaven (Rock N Roll Heaven – Cullenās A Dancer) A current breed thatās been doing a job for sometime. This John Morrison trained 2yr-old is set to appear in the first of the day after winning a learners pace last week. Dam Cullenās A Dancer was unraced but did leave the 3-time winner in A Better Dancer as her first foal. The maternal line traces back to the 5-time winner Dancing Holmes.
Dancing N Heaven, a leggy individual, looks to be one to watch after this effort last week
Berrettini (Sportswriter – Midnight In Paris) The Howe team looks to be coming into some great form currently with his trotters being prominent in recent racing. This juvenile pacer by Sportswriter is set to go around in the 2nd on the card at Rangiora and will look to continue his progress after impressing in a learners win last week.
This is a breed thatās well known for its ability to win races – Berretini is out of Midnight In Paris, a mare by Christian Cullen who counts the impressive 14-time winner Mrs Browns Boy (Real Desire) and Nandolo (Betterthancheddar) a winner of 9 on NZ soil before being competitive in feature events in North America among her progeny.
Berretini wins well last week in the hands of Robbie Close
Stormy Vista (Sweet Lou – Belle Vista) This son of Sweet Lou from the Mark Jones stable will take up a place in a learners pace late in the card and could well be one for the future. Dam Belle Vista won 4 and has kicked goals as a broodmare, leaving the 9-time winner Hot Flush (Bettorās Delight) and the 3-time winner Sonny Vista among her progeny to date.
The wider family includes the stars Lets Elope (Real Desire) and Five Star Anvil (McArdle).
