Welcome in to our Speed in the breed article. A look into the successful families represented at the trials and workouts.
If you look in the sales catalogue or those that find fame out on the track in the feature races youāre likely to find that many of the champions of today come from great families of the past. Here we touch on that habit of success – how the great families continue to leave the very best.
Addington is set to run a massive car of Cup trials on Wednesday and, not surprisingly, thereās also some nice untried types with some great bloodlines present too – here weāll look into some of those that should be followed in the weeks and months ahead.
Glitterati (Lazarus – Wat A Woman) The Lethaby stable has had some sound results of late with the barn recently picking up a winner with Racey Krusa, tomorrow the stable presents this 3yr-old filly with some strong bloodlines.
Dam Wat A Women has done an excellent job as a broodmare leaving the likes of Manhatten (Bettorās Delight) who went on to score 10 wins from some 53 starts, and the impressive No Matter Wat, a 5-time winner by A Rocknroll Dance.
Wat A Women currently has 4 individual winners to her name.
Glitterati comes into this trial with workout form behind Sweet Willow in April of this year.
Desi Tutu (Pastor Stephen – Niamey) Royally bred and bringing some spiritual power with him to Addington tomorrow is this Nairn trained 2yr-old gelding. This family needs little introduction with dam Niamey having already left the stars Pocaro (13 wins) Springbank Sam (20 NZ wins) Daenerys Targaryen (15 wins) and Arnold (12 wins) among a handful of other strong winning types.
While the Cup trials might be about the stars of the current day this juvenile could well be something in the future and should definitely be followed if the history of the breed is anything to go by.
Desi Tutu has all the bloodlines to be something special on the track. (Shown here winning a workout a fortnight ago)
Zoom X (Bettorās Delight – Uber Express) The Mark Jones stable is firing on all cyclinders at the moment and this 2yr-old could add a little fire to the stables big winning engine in times to come.
Out of the race-winning mare Uber Express, the bloodlines trace back to grandam Rondel Franco, winner of some 37 races and the mother to known pacing stars Savea Patrol (Christian Cullen), the winner of 12 from 20, and The Bus (Art Major) whose winning tally stands at 35 with a notable win coming at listed level when racing in the Lady Driver Invitational of 2019 at Menangle.
Thereās plenty of quality family lines present at the trials tomorrow and this one adds to that number.
Zoom X works home nicely at workouts last week.
