Champion trotter Sundees Son grabbed another harness racing win tonight in the G3 Lamb & Hayward Trotters Classic at Addington Raceway.
Sundees Son led and once again sprinted a quick final 800m in less than 56 seconds off the front for driver John Dunn and in doing so gave his rivals no chance of catching him.
“I stepped really quick and I knew Bob (on Heavyweight Hero in front) would let me go and I got the front easy,” John Dunn said after the race.
“He was still a wee bit out in the straight so I think there is a bit of improvement left in him between now and next week,” he said.
The impressive son of Majestic Son who is trained by Robert and Jenna Dunn, trotted the 2600m Mobile in 3-15.3 a Mile Rate of 2-00.8Ā with a last 800m in 55.8 and last 400m in 28.4 seconds.
In tonight’s other group three race on the track, the Brent White trained Cranbourne upset the favourites in the Fahey Fence Hire FFA with a dominating lead all the way win in the hands of Matthew Williamson.
Cranbourne flew off the mobile to lead and paced a 1-54.1 mile rate to beat Alta Wiseguy who trailed and Better Twist who battled on well for third. The winner paced the last 800m in 55.0 seconds with a final 400m in 27.5 seconds.
