The trotting revolution is well and truly under way in Australia and the annual Australasian Premier Trotting Sale is proving a treasure trove for purists.
Headed by the talented Endsino, graduates of the first two APTS sales in 2013 and 2014 are impressing on racetracks across the nation.
Endsino won a two-year-old fillies’ heat and the Group One Final of the Vicbred and also captured a Breeders’ Crown heat.
By Angus Hall from Redwood Classic winning broodmare Jauriol, Endsino is one of many luminous success stories from APTS sales, with other fruitful graduates including Livin The Life (three wins), Gus An Maori (two wins), Breeders’ Crown heat winners Shared Interest (second in the Group One Final) and Naked Majesty, the Breeders’ Crown runner-up Meadow Valley Road and recent Melton winner Hush Your Majesty.
This year’s APTS is scheduled for March 8, the day after the Great Southern Star at Tabcorp Park Melton.
A feature of this year’s APTS will be the high percentage of race-winning or winner-producing mares with progeny in the catalogue.
Of the 46 lots, 23 are from race-winning mares and 18 are from winning producers.
The APTS is a key plank of HRV’s strategic plan to improve the quality of the trotting breed and facilitate growth in this section of the business.
Given the global nature of the trotting an important factor in the overall growth of harness racing in Victoria is the expansion of the gait for the benefit of all participants in Victoria.
In 2015, the industry will benefit from 50 races being wagered on in France, showcasing the ever-improving quality of our product to the major European market.
