Father and son harness racing trainers Peter and Vaughan Blanchard line up six runners late on the card at Cambridge Raceway tomorrow night.
The pair begin their quest in Race Five with three year old filly Acushla Machree (Vincent).
āI thought she went pretty good fresh up and sheās not a bad three year old. If she had a better draw, I thought sheād be our best chance,ā Vaughan said.
Peter Ferguson does the driving.
The Blanchards have three starters in Race Six – True Story (Creatine), Majestic Ruby (Majestic Son) and Ruby Ridge (Majestic Son).
True Story (10 metres) was an easy winner two weeks ago and is beginning to string together a solid formline.
āHe seems to have come through the run well and is very well. He needs to step away and get a spot. Heās pretty versatile and a good each way chance. Heās owned in Australia, so heāll be here for a little bit until they put him on a plane. Heās thriving on racing.āĀ
The four year old will be handled by Peter Ferguson.
The well bred Majestic Ruby (20 metres) was coming off a break at her last start.Ā
āPrior to that run we missed a trial because we had a bit of a malfunction with the cart. Sheāll improve massively. Sheās trotting really well and is pretty talented. Being off 20 metres is never easy, but Iād expect her to improve off her first start run.āĀ
Majestic Ruby will be reined by Zachary Butcher.
Ruby Ridge (20 metres) rounds out the Blanchard trio. She broke for driver Peter Ferguson when challenging at her last start. The 2700 metres should suit.
āHe (Ferguson) said she was going well. Weād put lighter shoes on her and we felt that could have been the reason she broke. Weāve tampered with the shoeing and hoping that will rectify that.ā
Monika Ranger takes the drive on Ruby Ridge.
In Race Seven Miki Noel (Always B Miki) represents the stable and draws five for the 1700 metre mobile for driver Peter Ferguson.Ā
āWeāve always had a lot of time for him and heās maturing all the time. I think heās on the way up but five is a very tricky draw over the 1700 and itās a very good field. Heās probably a good each way chance if things went his way.ā
Cyclone Kadabramellia (Kadabra) finishes the night in Race Nine. She starts off the front row and is a good honest mare, having been placed in eight of her seventeen starts.
āSheās a big well bred trotter. Sheās racing solid and hopefully she can step away, get another good run and hopefully pick up a cheque.ā
Cyclone Kadabramellia will be driven by Peter Ferguson.
Vaughan Blanchard labelled Miki Noel and True Story as the stableās best bets.
