Progressive pacer Teddy Baker (Somebeachsomewhere) is on the comeback after last racing at harness racing HQ in November 2022 when he won the Macca Lodge South of the Waitaki.

That win was his fourth in a row for Ascot Park trainer Tyler Dewe and he became the horse that kick started the young trainer’s career.

Owned by Charlotte Williamson who bought him out of Hamish Hunter’s stable as a sixteen race maiden, Teddy Baker is now in her husband Matthew’s stable in Oamaru.
“He’s been here for about four months. The horse had a minor injury and Tyler gave him some time off. He’d been quite a handful at Invercargill with all the thoroughbreds around so he said a less busy environment would be better for him,” Williamson said.
The five year old is down to start at the Wairio meeting at Winton on Sunday and will race fresh.
“There haven’t been any trials up here so we’ve just worked away. He’s been a long time off the scene and whatever he does on Sunday he’ll be better for it. That said, he’s a horse with a motor. It’s a junior penalty free race and I’ve tried to engage one, but if I can’t I’ll do the job.”
When asked if regular pilot Rory McIIwrick has put his hand up to take the drive, Williamson gave a quick reply, “Unfortunately, he hasn’t got a J for junior driver beside his name, just C for clown (laughter).”
