Telfers hope for repeat success at Winton

At the Winton Harness Racing Club’s meeting this time last year Steve and Amanda Telfer won four feature races.
Sweet Diamond took out the Southern Belle Final, Beach Flybye the Winton Cup, Built For Glory a heat of the Southern Supremacy and Bettor Anvil the Murray Gray Memorial.

Tomorrow they bring some serious firepower south as well, targeting the feature races on the eleven card programme.

First starter Toffee Potts (Captain Crunch) takes her place in the Group Two $70,000 Entain Two Year Old Fillies Southern Classic over 1609 metres.

She’s had two trials and was running on well at her last one.

Elektra King (Captaintreacherous) races in the $20,000 Macca Lodge/Nevele R Southern Oaks heat.

She’s a nine start maiden who’s recorded three second placings and gets a good draw at four, to work with.

Treasure Cove (Captaintreacherous) is in the best form of his life and starts in the $20,000 Alabar Southern Supremacy Stakes heat.

He’ll race stronger company tomorrow and gets a tricky draw, starting from the inside of the second row.

Double Jeopardy (Captaintreacherous) has a front row draw and a good advantage over some of his rivals in the $25,000 All Lay Carpets and Drapes Winton Cup.

He won his last start at Ascot Park and didn’t have any luck in his previous start, finishing second to Betterthancash at Wyndham.

Seaside Rose (Downbytheseaside) and Sweet Diamond (Sweet Lou) front up in the $40,000 Vetsouth/SSBA Southern Belle Final.

Seaside Rose was good at her last start and having drawn one, she could get a soft trip.

Sweet Diamond is looking at becoming the first mare to win the Southern Belle twice and being a natural front runner and an ideal draw at two, it could happen.

Slots (Sweet Lou) has done all his racing in the North Island and last started at Cambridge in October. He’s had two trial runs in the south and in Race Eleven draws the inside of the second row.
