Ashburton trainers John Hay and Laurence Hanrahan will take some quality pacers to the Timaru Harness Racing meeting at the Phar Lap Raceway tomorrow.

Laurence’s day gets under way in Race Five when he lines up Woodbine Rocks (A Rocknroll Dance). The four year old gelding has a good standing start record and since running an unlucky fifth at Addington earlier this month has been back to the trials for a win.

In the Timaru Nursery Stakes Hanrahan starts Mighty Flying Lou (Sweet Lou). The well-bred youngster won impressively on debut on his home track during Cup Week and draws five in the 2050 two year old feature.

Tanzania (Rock N Roll Heaven) gets a front line draw in the Timaru Summer Cup over 2600 metres. The three year old won his first two races before running tenth at Addington at his next start. He’s been back to the trials since. Both of his wins have been from the standing start.

John Hay’s day gets underway in the Summer Cup when he lines up Wheels Of Fortune (Always B Miki). The four year old has won six of his fourteen starts and last raced at Addington on 21st September and has a virus since. He’s had one trial at the end of October leading into Sunday’s feature pace, running a close third behind Millwood Nike (Captaintreacherous) and Don’t Stop Dreaming (Bettor’s Delight).

Hay has Whatablaze (Sweet Lou) lining up in Race Ten. The three year old has won two of his eight starts and draws the inside of the second row over the 2050 trip.
