Taking in trials can be a sound way of getting your next winner or value runner.
In Harnesslink Trial Time we look through those that have impressed at recent trials and should be on your radar when they appear in race day fields.
The Rangiora trials on Wednesday the 6th of October saw some excellent fields assembled, here we look into just some of those that impressed.
Ranger Rick (Sunshine Beach – La Jaconde) This 2yr-old gelding caught the eye in the second heat of the day when mounting a bid over the final 400m to get within a length or so of the impressive Remember Me. The 2000m mobile event was paced in 2.33.5 with a last 800m of 56.4. Youāll find plenty of breeding behind his horse with Alta Orlando and Alta Shelby close relatives. This Robert and Jenna Dunn trained runner needs to be followed closely.
Love Rose (Love You – Rosedorae) While the first campaign from this filly met with just a solitary placing from 4 starts thereās plenty of potential here. The family is a well-performed one with B D Khaosan and B D Yasothon just two of the familiar names from the dam that have shown ability. Love Rose did things well enough in the seventh heat of the day and looked to have a little more in the tank when trotting the 2600m stand trip in 3.30.2. Her best form last time in came from behind the mobile arm so thatās a possible line you could play this time in. A certain follow this time in is the T Bagrie trained runner.
Bettor Talk Art (Bettorās Delight – Lets Talk Art) This filly is really flying! The Regan Todd trained daughter of Bettorās Delight is no stranger to Group success having won the Southland Oaks in May of this year and does look very forward given the nature of her trial efforts over the last fortnight. Mastering Itās All About Faith late over the 2600m stand in the 10th heat of the day the filly was asked to step things out late from parked after a good start and finding the markers early. Others in the field of note included Pelosi and Need You Now.
A versatile animal Bettor Talk Art has enjoyed sound results on grass and from behind the mobile arm with her gate-speed a real asset. She’s bound to take money this time in and deservedly so.
Muscle Mountain (Muscle Hill – Paramount Faith) Heās an impressive animal and he looked superb in winning the last trial of the day on Wednesday . A cold sit through the initial stages and a late move out to the parked position saw the Hope trained runner move away from a decent field that included the H Cullen trained Oscar Bonavena. It seemed to be easy work for this quality trotter.
While Sundees Son is grabbing the headlines on the track currently I can see this Group 1 winner giving the open-class trotting ranks nightmares over the next few months. Heās only a 4yr-old, thatās the scary part.
Thereās so much more to come from Muscle Mountain!
