Three from three for Mick

Australian owner Mick Boot’s run with horses bought in the south before they were old enough to race, continued today when Treacherous Me (Captaintreacherous) took out the Macca Lodge Two Year Old Mobile Pace at Winton.

“He bought Captains Mistress and Utah Jazz and then bought this one. So we’ve had a good run,” trainer driver Nathan Williamson said.

Captains Mistress has won five races including two Group Ones, while Utah Jazz has won three of her four starts.

“Mick’s just trying to buy these well bred fillies for the future.”

Today Treacherous Me added to the winning tally when she led from the 1609 metre dispatch and held out a late charging Seaside Brucie to win by half a length.

“She’s quite a big lass but she’s doing everything well. She wasn’t good in front, but once Pete came up (Peter Hunter driving Havtimetodream) she got keen. In the last 100 metres I had Pete covered but I had to pull the ear plugs because she got a bit lost in front. When Mark’s one (Mark Jones trained Seaside Brucie) came through after the line she got going again. She’s still green.”

Today was Treacherous Me’s second race day start after she ran second on debut to Miki’s Deal at Addington last Friday.

“It wasn’t my intention to be in this race today but she came through the run at Addington so well. I thought we’d taken advantage of another race on our home track.”

Williamson says Treacherous Me will now run in the $40,000 G3 Helen Pope Fillies Mobile Pace at Ashburton on Kings Birthday Sunday.

“We set that as her target a long time ago.”
