Branxholme trainer driver Nathan Williamson delivered a training double for Australian owner Mick Boots at the Wairio harness racing meeting at Winton today.
Passchendaele (Betterthancheddar) was the first on the board when he won the Wilbur Ellis NZ Ltd Mobile Pace by a neck from a late charging Share A Dream.
PASSCHENDAELE REPLAY
“He’s been very laid back at home so I put blinds in him today. I think they’ll be coming off because he was awfully keen early. He was strong through the line and after the finish he was keen to get on with it,” Williamson said.

Today was the first time the two start maiden had run in the Williamson colours.
“He’s only been at my place for two weeks. He came from Bob Butt’s. Mick bought him off Oamaru trainer Ross Wilson and sent him to Bob. He thought the big tracks down here would suit. He’s a big inexperienced horse but he feels like he might have a bit of a motor there.”

The second win came when quality filly Utah Jazz (Bettor’s Delight) took out the Nightcaps Contracting Mobile Pace.
The three year old got a cosy trip early in the one out line but when Forever Arden and Ollie Kite came steaming around, Williamson jumped out in front of him and he took Utah Jazz to the top.
“We were going so slow and I went to go. Ollie had the same idea and we ended up going around together, “Williamson said.
Once Utah Jazz balanced up for the run home she extended her lead and won by three a half lengths from Forever Arden.
UTAH JAZZ REPLAY
“She’s still learning and coming on.”

Williamson said Utah Jazz will line up in a heat of the Southern Oaks in seven days time at the Winton track.

“If they can’t get it off the ground she’ll go straight to the final.”
Williamson heads to Addington tomorrow for premier racing with Rise Up N Dance, Captains Mistress and Hidden Talent.
