Two of Southland’s best fillies Miki’s Deal (Always B Miki) and Indulge Me (Downbytheseaside) head north on Friday for the third heat of the Dunstan Sires’ Stakes Two Year Old Fillies Series.
The field of thirteen is stacked full of talent with winning and placed form right across the race page.
Miki’s Deal was disappointing at Addington at her last start but had excuses.

“She just brushed a knee, went rough, put in a few rough ones and lost twenty metres. We’ve changed a bit of shoeing and she hasn’t missed a beat,” trainer Brett Gray said.
The two year old filly draws three on the second row in the thirteen horse field.
“I’m not too worried as long as they keep going a bit. It could work out okay but in that sort of field you still need to get a bit of a trip. She’s got good speed coming off a horse’s back. She trailed good on Friday.”
Indulge Me was excellent on debut at Gore, running home late for second to Lizzie Borden. She’s been back to the workouts twice since.

“She’s a lovely filly and I’ve got a bit of time for her but she’s still learning the game. She’s drawn awfully so she’ll need a bit of luck. She’s a very genuine filly who’s still learning and still green. She paced a little roughly the other day (workout) when a horse came through on her inside.”
Williamson says if Indulge Me runs in the top six on Friday night he’ll consider going to Ashburton on the 27th October for the final heat of the series.
