The well-bred Utah Jazz (Bettor’s Delight) got her harness racing career off to a winning start in the Ascot Four Square Stella Frost Stakes at the Northern Southland meeting today.
After settling back from a wide draw, trainer driver Nathan Williamson slotted the three year old filly three back on the outside. That outside run took Utah Jazz all the way to the home straight and once Williamson released the filly’s head gear she powered away to win by three and three quarter lengths.
UTAH JAZZ REPLAY
“She went good and did what she had to. I was pleased,” he said.

Utah Jazz is likely to head to Wyndham next Sunday for a heat of the Macca Lodge/Nevele R Southern Fillies Series.

“She’s definitely a follower (of speed) at this stage.”
Utah Jazz is owned by Mick Boots and is out of the four win Rock N Roll Heaven mare Rockabilly Blues who’s a half-sister to $2.4 million earner Chicago Bull.
Today’s race at Ascot Park was a salute to great Otago pacing mare Stella Frost, the winner of twenty three races including an Interdominion Pacing Final, Auckland Cup and a New Zealand Free For All.
