Quality harness racing gelding Wag Star (Sweet Lou) is two weeks away from returning to the workouts for Wyndham trainer Craig Ferguson.

The four year old in his first season of racing won four races and was placed three times in ten starts. He finished second in the G2 Southern Supremacy Stakes and fourth in the G1 Flying Stakes and he mixed it with the likes of Don’t Stop Dreaming and Merlin in a super crop of three year olds.
“We gave him a spell which was supposed to be three weeks and it ended up being five. We’ll give him a few starts and make a plan from there but he’s working really well. It’s probably silly to say but he still looks like he’s another six months away from filling into his frame. We won’t over race him this time because he’s going to be better in the future,” Ferguson said.
Meanwhile Da Vinci (Art Major) proved he’s a genuine upper grade horse, storming home at Addington last Friday to run third behind Ohoka Connor and Alta Meteor.
“He’s surprised us in what he’s done. His run the other night was good and he got home in probably 54 seconds and had no right to run third from where he came from. He’s going to be competitive in nicer races if he does no work.”

Owned by Paul and Brendon Duffy Ferguson says the Wyndham Cup could be an option for the gelding. The 3200 metre $25,000 feature is on Saturday 16th March.
“They’re local owners and it’s a race they want to win. We’ll probably go there and see what happens after that.”
The four year old has now won nine races from just twenty one starts and earned $120,710.
