The photo said it all.
When Lottie’s Moment (Majestic Son) won the $25,000 Yaldhurst Hotel Silk Road Winter Series Final at Addington today, it looked as though most of those on-course were in the ownership group.
“It’s a big crew. Jo Townsend jacked up the purchase of the horse. She was an owner of Katies (Katie Cox). When Katie was sick, we were in negotiations and when she passed, Jo bought the horse off Katie’s Mum. Jo has got a lot of owners into the horse, some from Katies, some were owners from her father Mike DeFilippi and friends from her work. It’s a big syndicate and I see new faces all the time,” trainer driver John Morrison said after Lottie’s Moment won the final by three quarters of a length.
LOTTIE’S MOMENT REPLAY
“She’s a nice enough wee horse. She’s probably not the toughest horse around but she’s got a bit of high speed so that always helps. We were very lucky with the run we got. It was the best she’s trotted at the races today.”

Lottie’s Moment qualified for Cox and had three starts for the stable for a second and two thirds.
“Katie thought a lot of her early on and she did a really good job with her. I’ve been the lucky one to get her to train.”

And Morrison says the four year old is far from the finished product.
“She gets her head up a bit sometimes and gets a bit keen, so we’ve got the under check on to keep her head down. She wears a boring poll and gaiting strap on the near side because she had a tendency to trot fairly average when she runs in. Now she’s getting straighter and trotting better. Hopefully all the gear can come off one day.”
