Harness racing punters will have their eyes on Brad Williamson at Ascot Park on Friday when he combines with a couple of multi-making hot favourites.

Punters will have their eyes on Brad Williamson at Ascot Park on Friday when he combines with a couple of multi-making hot favourites.

Myshout (race 1) and Sonny Maguire (race 9) are both set to start at short odds on a twilight programme if their opening quotes with bookmakers are anything to go by.

Sonny Maguire will be out to seal back-to-back wins for trainer Alister Black after he jogged to victory on the same track earlier this month.

Williamson has no doubts that he can repeat that effort.

“He should be a pretty good chance, he is a nice horse.”

“We have got a good draw (3) to work with and we will positive with him.”

“If he goes like he did last time he should be hard to beat.”

Williamson throws on his brother Matthew’s silks to drive Myshout in a field she can handle in race 1.

Among horses that don’t have a lot of exposed form, the five-year-old looks the horse to beat.

“She is a pretty consistent trotter and it is not an overly strong field.”

“From her draw (2), she should get her chance to win.”

Williamson combines with the Matt Purvis trained Gossip Girl in Friday’s Southland Oaks heat.

The three-year-old impressed when producing a powerful win in a prior heat at Oamaru.

Her barrier 9 draw looks the only factor against her going into race 8.

“It was a very nice win at Oamaru, the rest of them didn’t have any excuses.”

“She looks like a smart filly but the draw is going to be tricky.”

“She will need a bit of luck but if she gets it she should go a good race.”

Mabelline looks the best of Williamson’s remaining drives.

The Brent White trained mare takes on hot favourite Lifes A Beach in a heat of the Southern Belle Speed Series which is no easy feat.

But there looks no reason she can’t run a good race.

“Life’s A Beach is the class horse of that field and will be very hard to beat.”

“But Mabelline should go a good race, she looks like a place chance.”

Williamson also drives Celtic Abbey in race 2, Jaffie J in race 4 and Top Pocket Chance in race 5.
