The Western Australian Standardbred Breeders Association (WASBA) have opened their annual stallion service raffle for harness racing breeders across Australia and New Zealand.
The first prize is one of the best sires to ever visit the southern hemisphere in Bettors Delight USA 1:49.4 $2,581,461. Bettors Delight is without doubt recognised as one of the worldās best sires of all time. Along with his performance in the northern hemisphere, in the southern hemisphere he has been leading Pacing Sire in Australia and New Zealand from 2012 to 2022, and he has sired winners of over $500 million world wide.
Bettors Delight had numerous accolades on the track where he was a champion performer, winning the Dan Patch and O’Brien 2YO and 3YO Pacing Colt of the Year in 2000 and 2001. He also won the Little Brown Jug, Breeders Crown, Governor’s Cup, North America Cup etc.

The phenomenal first prize in the raffle is open to all breeders in Australia and New Zealand, but if you are a WASBA member, or join before 16 August (membership for new members will extend to 31 August 2024) you will also be included in a draw for one of two $1,000 service fee vouchers (drawn immediately after the raffle draw) to use at one of the studs sponsoring WASBA this season (WASBA membership is $20 single or $30 family)
WASBA will commence their Stallion Tender as soon as the Raffle is drawn, with some headliners included in the lineup and a range of prices and bloodlines. There will also be a draw for $500 stallion service fee vouchers for WASBA members who pay their 2023/24 membership renewals before 30 September 2023 and have either purchased a raffle ticket or participated in the 2023 WASBA Stallion Tender. These vouchers will also be available for use on service fees at one of WASBAās sponsor studs which include Alabar Farms, Allwood Stud Farm, KTC Bloodstock, Llowalong Farms, Soho Standardbreds, Westbred Pacing and Woodlands Stud, with more to be added in the coming weeks.

There are 300 tickets available at A$100 each and a maximum of 8 tickets per person. The raffle closes midnight on Wednesday 16 August unless all tickets are sold prior, with the prize to be used in the 2023 breeding season in Australia or New Zealand. The raffle will be drawn on Friday 18 August 2023.
