Winners set to keep winning

Winners are set to keep winning at Addington on Friday night (Jun 30).

Among those who return to the harness racing track after recent success is Franco Sinatra (Captaintreacherous) who has shown he has all the attributes to take out race 6.

The three-year-old has been one of the most progressive horses in Canterbury through winter and autumn for the Cran and Chrissie Dalgety stable.

During his run of four wins from just seven starts, the pacer has shown high speed, as well as stamina, which was on full show in his last start victory over 2600m.

Over the same trip in race 6, Franco Sinatra looks hard to beat despite drawing barrier 7.

“The small field looks in his favour, worst case scenario he should only be three to four lengths off them,” Cran Dalgety said.

“We were thrilled with his last start, he knuckled down to it very well in his first go at 2600m.”

“He has a good head on him and he’s got the smarts not to overdo it over the longer trip.”

“He’s only got better with the more racing he has had and we really haven’t been able to fault him since that win.”

The Dalgety camp also start Ohoka Le Bron at Addington on Friday night.

The pacer comes into race 10 after running third in his first attempt over 2600m.

“He got home nice in his last start, it was a bit of a sprint home.”

“His work has been good since then and from the 2 draw we would like to think he could be right amongst it.”

Mark Jones takes his last-start winners Deny Everything, Major Memphis and Bella Button to Addington on Friday night.

Deny Everything and Major Memphis will square off in race 7.

Deny Everything not only has the advantage of having taken on tougher fields in the past, the pacer has the benefit of prior standing start experience.

“He is no stranger to racing in that grade and the 10m handicap shouldn’t worry him with it being a small field,” Jones said.

“He should be a pretty good chance.”

Jones also starts his equine ATM Bella Button in race 9.

The filly looks to be facing her toughest test to date, but the way she has overcome similar challenges suggests she can handle it.

Jones isn’t going into the race with huge hopes but he admits the trotter has surprised him before.

“This is one of her toughest tests, she did run third behind the good mares earlier in the year.”

“I would say she would be a place chance in that race, the 10m will make it hard for her.”

“But in saying that I didn’t think she could win her last races and she proved me wrong.”

Bella Button is one of six runners Jones lines up on Friday night.
