Queensland trained, New Zealand bred and Canadian owned filly Aardie B Miki (Always B Miki) stamped herself as a serious prospect for the Queensland Oaks in a fortnightās time with a scintillating harness racing win in the South East Oaks at Albion Park tonight (July 13).
Aardie B Miki is the first of a remarkable three progeny of her dam Tatijana Bromac (Rocknroll Hanover) running in the major features in tonightās Constellations Carnival at Queensland harness racing headquarters, Albion Park.
The filly, owned by Canadian Mike Tanev, was a winner of a heat of the NZ Southern Oaks and at her first start in Australia for trainer Chantal Turpin ran a credible third in the Redcliffe Oaks.
But she left no doubt about her quality with a dominant display in the Burwood Stud South East Oaks.
Aardie B Miki exploded off the gate from barrier seven, went straight to the front, and reinsman Pete McMullen was never in doubt from that point.
āObviously she has got good speed and it was just a matter of making sure she knew what she was doing, which she did, and she was pretty sharp early and sharp at the finish,ā McMullen said.
āHer manners are really nice. As soon as she cleared them she just came back to me and was pretty casual through the run.Ā And as soon as I asked her she had another gear there and away she went,ā he said.
Aardie B Miki stopped the clock at 1.54.9 (30.7, 30.1, 28.2, 27) to score by 3.5 metres over Look Like Diamonds (David Miles) and Zena Rhayne Bow (Chantal Turpin).

āWhat a credit to the mare to have three runners in the feature races tonight. Itās a huge effort for the mare,ā McMullen said.
Tonightās Constellations Carnival features have full coverage on Thoroughbred Central.
The win gave McMullen and his wife and trainer Chantal Turpin an early double, after earlier winning the Burwood Stud South East Derby consolation with Attachment (Sunshine Beach).
