Big meeting Tuesday for harness racing in Ireland

Horse Racing Ireland and Horse Sport Ireland to discuss Harness Racing with the Agriculture Committee

The Joint Committee on Agriculture, Food and the Marine will tomorrow meet with representatives of Horse Racing Ireland and Horse Sport Ireland to resume their deliberations on the Irish Harness Racing Industry.

The meeting will commence at 2.00 pm in Committee Room 3 tomorrow, Tuesday, 15 December 2015.

Committee Chairman, Andrew Doyle TD, said “Tomorrow’s meeting allows us to continue our deliberations on the Irish Harness Racing Industry. This is a growing sector which we have looked at previously and now look forward to expanding the context of our considerations with the HRI and HSI.”

“Access to facilities was cited as a key issue for the IHRA and we look forward to hearing more about the legislative footing on which horse racing facilities operate. Harness racing offers opportunity for economic gain and so we look forward to hearing from the HRI and HSI on their thoughts on possible collaborative growth.”
