WEST CORK, Ireland – Brywins Starship cemented his reputation as one of the up and coming stars on the west Cork Circuit with a top drawer performance at The Cornfield Oval in Manch on Sunday.
Taking advantage of a number two draw this son of Share The Delight was quick to the front and after an early tussle with Armoured Bear he quickly disposed of that challenge and was most impressive in a three length winning margin from Heather Breeze .The time of 2.01 .1 was fastest of the day. This win puts him into the handicap proper.
Owner /trainer and driver Mike Healy indicated after racing that the Paddy Connolly Memorial Handicap at next weekends Ballabuidhe Festival will be the target for this four year old.
Cruise Howard returned to winning ways in the top grade pace . Derry McCarthy came in for the catch drive (Usual driver Timmy O Leary was absent due to a family Bereavement) on the winner who took up the running off a 20 yard trail after two furlongs and never looked in danger of defeat easing home by four lengths from Best Talent .
A tilt at the Grand Prix next weekend (second last year) is next on the menu for the 2015 Horse of the Year .
Patrick Hill also won a catch drive in the Le Trot . Adagio Du Cebe has ran well since his switch to Kelleher Racing(Mike Kelleher was driving in Portmarnock Today) and opened his account with a bit in hand and still looks a bit ahead of the handicapper.
Racing opened with a win for Saunders Jubilee and Jack Manning . This son of Platy With A Full Deck was campaigned in the UK last term running into a few places but won on his return to Cork.
Talented Man took an ultra competitive Grade D and E Pace. Drawn in pole position this son of Cams Security saw off all comers in a blanket finish where 2 lengths covered the first five home.
Rhyds Heartbeat seems to love Manch and won for the second time at the venue this season .Kieran Sheehy took up the running at the half mile juncture and won three lengths from stable companion IB Maximus. The winner is owned by Race secretary Angela Hurley and her husband Martin and was apopular winner.
Lakeview Panam looks another with a bright future and won on her debut for owner James Hurley . This daughter of Cams Security holds an entry in the three Year old grass pacing Championship her in Manch in August .
Ringo Kid and usual pilot Shelley Brickley took the concluding saddle race. Myross Son led until the final two furlongs but here Ringo Kid joinred and ran out an easy winner .
Next weekend sees the three day Ballabuihe Festival in Dunmanway racing on Sunday Monday and Tuesday .
