The three year old filly Oakwood Annabella (Foreclosure N – Carmel Camden) will be carrying the hopes of all of Ireland’s harness racing fraternity when she races in the $250,000 Jugette at Delaware Ohio on Wednesday night (Dublin time).
The fifty first renewal of the Jugette is the fillies division of The Little Brown Jug – effectively an Oaks/Derby situation. The filly is owned by Dennis Copse of Limerick and has been supplemented at a cost of $15,000.
Oakwood Annabella was trained at two by the Gills at York and driven by Victoria Gill. The filly has won twice in the US recently for trainer Brian Brown. She clocked 1.50.4 on a half mile track on the 16th September which puts her in with a chance in Delaware.
The racing can be viewed with no charge on the Ohio Harness Horsemen Association live stream .
Oakwood Annabella was unbeaten in six starts at two, and was mainly campaigned in Britain. The broadcast will be from 5pm GMT. Two heats (or eliminations) will be run at 10 pm and 10:20 pm with the Irish raider in heat two. If she makes the final that will take place at 11:20 pm.
The Oakwood Stud, owned by Derek and James Delaney, bred the exciting export. Derek stated ‘’This must be the pinnacle of our breeding business so far. To think of a filly we reared from our own good mare Carmel Camden, racing in the Jugette, it’s a dream come true.”
