Ireland invader Harry Knows IR (Armstrong Jet) and harness racing driver Lauren Tritton scored another big victory in capturing the 5th race $15,500 trot Saturday, March 10, at The Meadowlands.
Wily Wally (Jason Bartlett) was first on the lead and then from the outside came both Frank The Elder (Yannick Gingras) and then the 2/5 race favorite Harry Knows IR also on the move.
Frank The Elder cleared to the lead by the first quarter in :27.4. Then it was Tritton with Harry Knows IR on the outside and they were able to clear by Frank The Elder before the half mile in :55.2.
From there, Harry Knows IR held the field at bay past the three-quarters in 1:23.4 and was the strong horse down the stretch, winning by three and one-half lengths in 1:52.4. No Drama Please (Dexter Dunn) was second with A New Leader (David Miller) was third.
HARRY KNOWS IR REPLAY
It was a lifetime mark and the second straight win for Harry Knows IR in just three starts since coming to the USA from Ireland where he was the top trotter in the country. The six-year-old gelding is trained by Shane Tritton for owner-breeder Patrick Kane, Jr. of Summerhill Meath, Ireland. He paid $2.80 to win.
“Harry seems to keep impressing me,” said driver Lauren Tritton. “But owner Patrick Kane promised me he was special.”
