$11.5 million turnover on third session of Lexington Selected Yearling Sale

Lexington, KY – Pacing colt Shoreline Station, a son of Sweet Lou-Seaside Park, topped Wednesday’s third session of the Lexington Selected Yearling Sale at Fasig-Tipton Pavilion, selling for $275,000 to Linda Toscano, as agent.

The colt is the first foal out of Seaside Park. His family includes Captain Optimistic, who won the 2024 Governor’s Cup and this year’s Cane Pace, as well as millionaire Fear The Dragon. He was bred by Spring Station Bloodstock and Stephen Dey III and consigned by Spring Station Bloodstock. He is eligible to Pennsylvania and Kentucky.

Next on the list of top sellers was trotting filly Hold The Bun, who was purchased by Knutsson Trotting Inc. for $200,000. A daughter of Captain Corey-Bonnie Lou, her family includes Sigilwig, the dam of 2024 Dan Patch Award-winner Sig Sauer, as well as Dan Patch Award-winner Broadway Schooner and her two-time Dan Patch Award-winning daughter Broadway Donna. The Pennsylvania eligible was bred by Steve Jones and consigned by his Cameo Hills Farm.

Completing Wednesday’s top three was trotting colt A Sailor’s Prayer, a son of Captain Corey-A Hopeful Prayer. He was purchased for $180,000 by Annie Stoebe as agent for Mazza Racing Stable. The colt’s family includes Hall of Famer Marion Marauder. He was bred by Little E LLC and Andy Miller Stable and consigned by Preferred Equine Marketing. He is Pennsylvania and Kentucky eligible.

In total, Wednesday’s 229 horses sold for $11.5 million, an average of $50,445. Last year’s third session saw 219 horses sell for $10.7 million, an average of $48,881.

Through three days, this year’s sale has totaled $52.5 million for 571 horses, an average of $91,977. Last year at this point, the total was $55.1 million for 563 horses, an average of $97,996.

The five-day sale will continue Thursday, with a 1 p.m. start, and conclude Friday, with a 7 p.m. start.
