OAK GROVE, Ky. — Driver Marcus Miller perched Yankee B Something into a two-hole ride and pounced on the money to cash at odds of 14-1 in the $50,000 Fillies & Mares Open Pace at Oak Grove Racing, Gaming & Hotel on Monday (July 8).
Miller sent Yankee B Something forward from post 5 for the front and yielded for a ride behind odds-on favorite Hungry For Love (driven by Devon Tharps) past a :26.1 first quarter. Hungry For Love then coasted along through a :55.2 half and to three-quarters in 1:23 as she and Yankee B Something scooted well clear of the competition turning for home. Miller angled Yankee B Something outside for the stretch drive, gathered momentum and surged past Hungry For Love in the final yards to win by 1-1/4 lengths in 1:51.1 while Marloe Hanover (Joey Putnam) rallied off a parked mile to finish third, another three lengths behind, and Ainthesamewithoutu (Marvin Luna) took fourth.
