Power By Mach and driver Jay Randall

Plainville, MA — Following a similar strategy put forth in last week’s harness racing victory, Powered By Mach made it two in a row after taking the $22,500 fillies and mares Winners-Over Handicap pace at Plainridge Park on Monday afternoon (Nov. 15).

Powered By Mach (Jay Randall) took a quick lead and dominated the pace throughout. With stablemate That’s Incredible (Drew Monti) in tow, Powered By Mach went :27.4 and :56.3 before a minor challenge from Always Mindy (Drew Campbell) showed up going to three-quarters.

However, the leader was never really in trouble as she rebuffed the outsider around the last turn and then turned back stretch runs from That’s Incredible and Surreal Syrah (Matty Athearn) to win by 3-1/2 lengths in 1:53.1.

With her sixth win of the season, Powered By Mach ($8.80) boosted her earnings to $75,123 for owner Fox Racing. Jimmy Nickerson trains the four-year-old mare by Mach Three.

POWERED BY MACH REPLAY

Nickerson also won with Mexican Hanover (1:55.3, $4.60) giving him two training wins for the day.

In the co-featured $17,500 conditioned pace Star Island (Drew Campbell) also went gate to wire basically unaccosted and stopped the clock in 1:53.4 for his third win of the year. Star Island ($5.00) is owned by John Di Antonio Jr. and is trained by Irwin Rosenthal.

Drivers Drew Monti and Matty Athearn each had two wins during the afternoon.

Racing resumes at Plainridge Park on Thursday (Nov. 18) at 1 p.m.
