DECATUR, IL (June 6, 2021)– Graduates of the Illini Classic Sale Co. won four of nine races on Saturday at the Macon County Fair, which served as the season opener for the 2021 Illinois county fair harness racing tour.
First-time starter No Way Bombay, who sold for $5,000 last Fall to Bryan Brown and Paul Cavett, won the colt-and-gelding division of the Illinois Big Ten Colt Stakes Two-Year-Old Pace in 2:07.4 with Cavett in the race bike. A son of Major Bombay from the Western Ideal mare The Flying Nun, No Way Bombay (MAJOR BOMBAY – THE FLYING NUN – WESTERN IDEAL) was bred by Fair Meadow Farm and was sold by Fair Meadow Farm in partnership with Jim Scherer.
In the Big Ten Stakes for sophomore pacers, BB’s Choice (MAJOR BOMBAY – TRUCULENT LADY – WESTERN IDEAL) triumphed in 2:07.1 for owners David Williams and Eddie Jarrett Jr., as the daughter of Major Bombay (ART MAJOR – ARMBRO BOMBAY – WESTERN HANOVER) won for the 1st time in eight career starts. Stephen Halford II drove the winner for trainer Jamaica Patton.
Sold under the name Willi Wheeler at the 2019 Illini Classic Sale Co., BB’s Choice fetched a price of $5,500. The filly was consigned by Lavern Schrock as agent for breeder Fair Meadow Farm.
In the Illinois Harness Horseman’s Association race for Illinois-bred pacing horses and geldings, Super Park (DUNESIDE PERCH – PARKONTHEROAD – PARK PLACE) recorded the fastest mile of the afternoon with a 17-length victory in 1:59.3. Jordan Patton drove the five-year-old, gelded son of Duneside Perch (CAM’S CARD SHARK – DUCK DUCK GOOSE – GOALIE JEFF) for trainer Nick Prather and owners Cole Prather, Connor Prather and George Pollock.
Grand Ole Party (PARTY AT ARTSPLACE – SUMMER SUNRISE – NO NUKES) took the second division of the Illinois Harness Horseman’s Association (IHHA) event for horses and geldings, rallying from 10 lengths off the pace with a stirring stretch rally to prevail in 2:00.1 for trainer RoShun Trigg and driver Jamaal Denson. The four-year-old is owned by RoShun Trigg and D&J Racing Stables, who bought the son of Party At Artsplace (ARTSPLACE – POODLE PARTY – EQUITABLE) from the Jeffers Farms consignment at the 2018 Illini Classic Sale Co. for $6,400.
