Grove City, OH – My Hare Legend (Bit of a Legend), the 2024 Buckeye Stallion Series 2-year-old filly pacing champion, is set to defend her harness racing title as a 3-year-old as the first leg of the 2025 Buckeye Stallion Series gets underway on Sunday at MGM Northfield Park. The Bit of a Legend filly hit the board in seven of 11 starts in 2024, winning four and earning $86,250.
The opening leg of the Buckeye Stallion Series features six divisions of 3-year-old filly pacers on Sunday followed by five divisions of 3-year-old filly trotters on Tuesday at Northfield Park. Each division carries a purse of $20,000.
Trained by Logan Ebersole and driven by Justin Irvine, the Ronald Rust-owned My Hare Legend will be making her second start of the year on Sunday. The field includes several fillies off to hot starts in 2025 highlighted by Seaside Lover and Judge Me Again, both of which have hit the board in all three of their starts. Additionally, Survivin Fire has hit the board in four of five starts, including three victories.
Downbytheseaside features prominently as a sire with 13 offspring in the 49-pacer field. Five starters were sired by Catch The Fire.
Thirty-six trainers are represented with Ron Burke, Steve Carter, Jason McGinnis, and Dan O’Mara each with three starters. Five other trainers have two each.
Curious Georgie and Wild as You highlight Tuesday’s 45-entry trotting slate, as both have hit the board in all four of their starts this year. Additionally, Sweet Rose has won both of her starts while Oh Hill No has hit the board in four of six starts, including three victories.
Popular sires in the field include Long Tom with nine as well as Marseille and What the Hill with eight each.
Twenty-seven trainers are represented with Chris Beaver leading the way with four starters. Four other trainers have three each.
The 16-race cards begin at 6 p.m. on both Sunday and Tuesday.
