(WOODSTOCK, VA — 8/11/2025) —- Shenandoah Downs will continue celebrating its 10th year of pari-mutuel harness racing in Woodstock with a 7-week pari-mutuel meet this fall at the Woodstock oval, scheduled to run from September 13 – October 26. Racing will take place every Saturday and Sunday at 1:05 PM.

Racing applications for the fall session are due this Wednesday August 13 and are available via the shenandoahdowns.com website under the “Horsemen” header. Peter Szymanski serves as Director of Racing and Karen Fagliarone, who worked at Freehold Raceway for 42 years, continues as Racing Secretary. For more information, horsemen can contact Karen at 732-239-0281 or can e-mail her at raceoffice@shenandoahdowns.com.

Construction of a new 170-stall, 32,500 square foot horse barn on the grounds is in its final stages and will be ready in time for the upcoming fall meet. A formal ribbon cutting ceremony is scheduled for Friday September 5 at 11 AM. Matt Lohr, Virginia’s Secretary of Agriculture & Forestry, along with other dignitaries, will cut the ribbon and usher in a new era of racing. The Virginia Equine Alliance’s $2 million investment in the project will ensure safe stabling for all horses that stay on the grounds and train throughout the meet.

The Shenandoah Downs stable area will open on Monday September 8. More details are at shenandoahdowns.com.
