Itsrockandroll A (A Rocknroll Dance) utilized his quick early speed and benefited from a pocket trip again to win the Blue Hen Open Pace at Bally’s Dover on Thursday night.
Hall of Fame driver Yannick Gingras rocketed Wehadababyetzaboy to the front approaching the quarter from post 8. Itsrockandroll A welcomed the pocket duplicating the same trip as last week with the same result.
Wehadababyetzaboy whistled through a rugged 26.2 opening quarter. He continued to control the race fractions sprinting to the half in 55 seconds flat, a 28.3 quarter.
The backfield was in motion pacing up the backstretch. Muskateer Hanover braved the chilly air racing 1st over and coverless. Steven’s Saloon was carried into a 2nd over journey. Dale Yeah was 3rd over and Itsrockandroll A enjoyed the pocket trip and ready to pounce.
Wehadababyetzaboy continued hammering out the race fractions and reached the three quarter split in 1:22, a 27 flat quarter and a mission to bottom out the field.
Betting favorite Itsrockandroll A and driver Tim Tetrick pulled the trigger in deep stretch from the pocket and won by two and a quarter lengths in 1:50.1. It was a lifetime mark for the 10 year old altered son of A Rocknroll Dance. He paid $4.40 for the win.
Itsrockandroll A. is owned by Elizabeth and Bret Brittingham of Delaware.
Wehadababyetzaboy finished 2nd and Master Rigger picked up the show price.
After the race trainer Don Brittingham exclaimed “ He’s the best horse I ever had. He’s a pleasure to be around”.
Bally’s Dover races Monday- Thursday with a 1st race post of 4:30 pm.
Jason Bartlett won 5 races on the betting card. He won two divisions of the Matron Stakes and 3 overnight races.Tim Tetrick won 4 races each on the betting card.
