Harness racing two-year-old pacing colts and three-year-old trotting fillies were on display in $233,000 worth of Indiana Sire Stakes Thursday (Oct. 5) at Harrahās Hoosier Park.
The richest of the sire stakes was for the pacing colts with each division racing for a purse of $68,000.
The 9th race was the first division that saw race favorite Telmeitmatters (John De Long) first on the lead with Stat That (Lewayne Miller) grabbing the two-hole trip to the first quarter in :27.
Then it was Noblesville (JK Endoranera) and driver Ronnie Wrenn, Jr. Ā coming first-over and taking the lead after the half mile in :55.2.
In the backstretch Play Action PASS (Trace Tetrick) came first-over with JDās King James (Jordan Ross) second-over pressing the three-quarters in 1:24.4. Then down the stretch Noblesville proved to be the strongest, winning by one and one-half lengths in 1:52.1. Play Action Pass was second with Stat That third.
NOBLESVILLE REPLAY
It was the fourth win of the season for Noblesville, who is trained by Ron Burke for Burke Racing Stable and Weaver Bruscemi, paying $5.40 to win.
The 12th race second $68,000 division trainer Ron Burke make it a stakes double as his race favorite, Martz Telly (Tellitlikeitis), were able to wire the field for driver Ronnie Wrenn, Jr.
Cutting fractions of :26.2, :55.2 and 1:24.3, Martz Telly was up by five lengths at the top of the stretch and breezed home to win by a length in 1:52.2. Premier Romeo (Kyle Wilfong) was second with Prestigious Prince (Lewayne Miller) third.
MARTZ TELLY REPLAY
It was the seventh win in only nine lifetime starts for Martz Telly. The gelding is owned by Burke Racing Stable, Knox Services, Frank Baldachino and Weaver Bruscemi, paying $3.20 to win.
There were two $49,500 divisions of the Sire Stakes for the three-year-old trotting fillies.
The 7th race first division saw race favorite Naturdays (Helpisontheway) and driver Matt Krueger get a perfect second-over trip and then come on in the stretch to win by two and one-quarter lengths in 1:54.1. Pacesetter Marys Magic (John De Long) was second with Country Mamma (Peter Wrenn) third.
NATURDAYS REPLAY
It was the second straight win and sixth victory of the year for Naturdays, who is trained by Matt Rhenheimer and owners Alton & Debra & Brackton Miller, paying $3.20 to win.
In the 10th race second division, race favorite Helpoftheseason (Helpisontheway) and driver Peter Wrenn used perfect two-hole cover to notch their third straight win.
Picaboo Lady (Joey Putnam) cut the mile with Swanya (John De Long) coming first-over in the backstretch and leading at the top of the stretch, but once Helpoftheseason got into gear, they tracked Swanya down at the wire to win by a neck in 1:54.3. Picaboo Lady was third.
HELPOFTHESEASON REPLAY
It was the sixth win of the year for Helpoftheseason. She is trained by Melanie Wrenn for owners John Smucker, Wrenn Racing and Running Wild Stables, paying $3.60 to win.
