Eldorado Scioto Downs held two $30,000 harness racing co-feature pacing events Friday (June 2).
In the 9th race final of The Steve McCoy for Ohio-sired Fillies and Mares, it was the 7-1 longshot Colorful Dragon (Fear The Dragon), who sat along the pylons for driver Tyler Smith en route to an effortless victory.
19-1 Artura (Austin Hanners) was first on the lead to the quarter in :26.4. Aquaholic (Dan Noble) came first-over and those two battled eye to eye to the half mile in :55.4 and the three-quarters in 1:24.1.
Down the stretch they come, and Artura canāt keep up against Aquaholic, but lo and behold, Smith sends Colorful Dragon and the grey filly come on in the passing lane to win by one and one-quarter lengths in 1:53.4. Aquaholic holds for second with Limestone Gem (Brett Miller) taking third.
