Eldorado Scioto Downs held two $30,000 harness racing co-feature pacing events Friday (June 2).

Tyler Smith won with Colorful Dragon

In the 9th race final of The Steve McCoy for Ohio-sired Fillies and Mares, it was the 7-1 longshot Colorful Dragon (Fear The Dragon), who sat along the pylons for driver Tyler Smith en route to an effortless victory.

19-1 Artura (Austin Hanners) was first on the lead to the quarter in :26.4. Aquaholic (Dan Noble) came first-over and those two battled eye to eye to the half mile in :55.4 and the three-quarters in 1:24.1.

Down the stretch they come, and Artura can’t keep up against Aquaholic, but lo and behold, Smith sends Colorful Dragon and the grey filly come on in the passing lane to win by one and one-quarter lengths in 1:53.4. Aquaholic holds for second with Limestone Gem (Brett Miller) taking third.

COLORFUL DRAGON REPLAY

It was a lifetime mark and the first win in six starts this year for Colorful Dragon. She is trained by Kelly O’Donnell for owner and breeder Emerald Highlands Farm of Ohio. She paid $16.40 to win.

In the 10th race Fillies and Mares Open Pace, undefeated Grace Hill (Always B Miki) and driver Tony Hall overcame post 8 for their third straight win.

Leaving from the far outside, Grace Hill took command right away and held the field at bay the entire one mile race. She cut fractions of :26.3, :54.4 and 1:22.1 with a :27.4 last quarter mile to win by one and three-quarter lengths in 1:50. Waitforever N (Aaron Merriman) was second with She’s sonebadmomma (Chris Page) third.

GRACE HILL REPLAY

Trained by Virgil Morgan, Jr., Grace Hill is a five-year-old mare owned by Tom Hill of the UK. She is a career winner of more than $1.2 million and paid $2.80 to win as the wagering favorite.
