Harness racing driver Joe Bongiorno worked out a perfect two-hole trip for American Dealer N in winning the $39,000 Open Handicap Pace Monday at Yonkers Raceway.
The 8th race feature started off with American Dealer N and Bongiorno scooting to the early lead with race favorite Red Right Hand and driver Scott Zeron coming after them to the first quarter mile in :27.
Zeron was able to clear to the lead with Red Right Hand and led the field to the half mile in :55.3 and the three-quarters in 1:23.3. Bronx Seelster (George Brennan) started up first-over but was unable to get close to the raceleaders.
By the top of the stretch, Bongiorno slipped out of the two-hole and came after Red Right Hand with American Dealer N, collaring them before the wire to win by three-quarters of a length in 1:50.4. Runrun Jimmydunn N (Jason Barlett) was third.
AMERICAN DEALER N REPLAY
A recent import from New Zealand, American Dealer N posted his third win in seven starts since coming to the USA. The five-year-old stallion by American Ideal is trained by Linda Toscano for the Enviro Stables and Ken Jacobs and paid $7.20 to win.
