Royal Mission (Chapter Seven), a $390,000 harness racing yearling purchase in 2023, the #6 top seller at the Harrisburg Yearling Sale, made her way to the winnerās circle for the first time Friday, Aug. 9 at Saratoga Raceway.
Boost (Jason Bartlett) was the first on the lead followed by Calculus Risk (Wally Hennessey) in second as they trotting to the opening quarter mile in :28.4.
Then it was Royal Mission and Beckwith, who was driving the filly for the first time, moving first-over and clearing with ease on the lead before the half mile in :59.2.
Going in the backstretch saw race favorite My Debt Collecter (Tyler Buter) come first-over to challenge Royal Mission to the three-quarters in 1:28.1.
Unable to catch the race leader, My Debt Collecter has to settle for second place as Royal Mission held her off in the stretch to win by a half a length in 1:58.2. Calculus Risk was third.
ROYAL MISSION REPLAY
It was the first pari-mutuel victory in four starts for Royal Mission. She was purchased as a yearling and is owned by Jeffrey Snyder of New York, NY, trained by Marcus Melander and paid $4.50 to win. She has now earned $148,500 in her brief career.
