Got $0.20 cents and feel lucky?
That’s all it might take to win the mandatory Jackpot Hi-5 payout in the 11th race Saturday (March 26) at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
The pool is starting off with $526,417.15 and will soar to well over $1 million by post time of the 11th race, which will be just after 11:00 pm Saturday.
The Jackpot Hi-5 requires horseplayers to select the top-five finishers in order. This Saturday’s mandatory payout will see the entire carryover, plus new money wagered, paid out to all those that correctly select the top-five finishers in order. The Jackpot Hi-5 is a $0.20 minimum wager with a 15% takeout.
And just to make things more fun, the 11th race is a wide-open event with 12 horses entered.
Earlier on the card in race three, the rivalry continues as Wheels On Fire, Jimmy Freight and Uhtred go head and head again in the $36,000 Preferred Pace.
Last week it was Brad Grant’s 2021 O’Brien Award winner Wheels On Fire and driver Doug McNair who were able to wire the field in 1:53.4. In the prior week’s race it was Jimmy Freight winning in 1:53.2 and in both those starts Uhtred was a game second place finisher.
Wheels On Fire is the favorite from post six. Jimmy Freight drew post five for driver Louis-Philippe Roy and Uhtred starts from post seven for driver Jody Jamieson.
Moving up in class against the best pacers in Canada is Points North on the rail. He will be driven by Jonathan Drury after winning his last start in 1:53.2.
