Duckdodgendive (Deweycheatumnhowe), the longest odds on the tote board at 58-1, was able to handle a class hike in capturing the $15,575 harness racing feature trot at Saratoga Raceway Sunday (April 16).
The 9th race main event saw race favorite Beerthirty K (Billy Dobson) go out to the early lead with Duckdodgendive and driver Brett Beckwith leaving from post seven and getting to the lead at the first quarter in :28.2.
Duckdodgendive led the field to the half mile in :57.4. Then popping out from third place to come first-over was Bold Creation and driver Leon Bailey and they charged right up and actually had the lead on the outside as they passed the three-quarters in 1:26.4.
As they raced around the final turn Duckdodgendive dug in and would not let Bold Creation clear, taking back command of the race and then was able to go on to win by one length in 1:56.3. Makadushin N Cheez (Jim Devaux) was second with Comeonover Hanover (Luke Hanners) third.
