Harrington Raceway’s richest program of the harness racing season is set for Thursday (July 27) on Governor’s Day at the Delaware State Fair with a 12-race card starting at 7 p.m.
There are $635,000 in total purses at stake with four $110,000 Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund (DSBF) events for 3-year-olds being the centerpiece for the program, in addition to popular annual events including the $50,000 Governor’s Cup, which showcases the top older (4 years old and up) horses locally.
Most of the races also honor the memory of former legislators, dignitaries and racing participants.
Delaware Governor John Carrey, a staunch supporter of the Standardbred Breeders Program in Delaware for many years, will be on hand at Harrington Raceway to present the Governor’s Cup Trophy to the winner of the 3rd race $50,000 Pace.
Featured will be three return winners in Beachers Brook A (post 1), Major Betts (post 2) and Itsrockandroll A (post 8). The race favorite is local star Heinikin Bythebay (post 3) while Advance Man (post 4) sports an impressive 12 wins this season.
The very first race on the card is the $110,000 DSBF final for three-year-old colt and gelding pacers and it also features three return winners in the field.

The 6th race is the $110,000 final for three-year-old trotting fillies featuring two rivals, each on three-race winning streaks.
