Safe seems to be too small of a word to describe the freedom the 70 harness racing trotters and pacers now know! Every one of these horses has the heart of very special people who gave them a chance to live, and to live with dignity. Every horse is now safe!
The Standardbred Retirement Foundation, (SRF) and its volunteers feel so fortunate to have such extraordinaryĀ matching gift offers and the kindness and generosity of others to bring it full circle. They say it takes a village to make a difference, and this village of compassionate people did exactly that! Some of SRF’s very special supporters drove as far as two hours to bring donations, the determination to save them all was amazing.
The one area where this effort is falling a little short is being able to secure foster and adoptive homes. There are enough funds to manage each horse for two months. SRF is hoping a few more wonderful people will open their barn to one, and for sponsors. Two months will not be enough to get each one quarantined and through rehabilitation.
To offer a home or foster home emailĀ srfhorsesankids@gmail.com or call 609-738-3255.Ā Ā An application is required and will be handled expeditiously. This can be found on the website here.
