Harrisburg, PA — The lone stallion share offered for trotting sire Walner in Thursday’s (Oct. 10) opening session of the Standardbred Horse Sale’s mixed sale brought the biggest price of the week, going for $750,000 to Patty Key. The previous high figure, $600,000 for filly trotter Date Night Hanover, came in Monday’s opening session of the yearling sale.
The Walner share was consigned by Preferred Equine Marketing.
One other stallion share topped $200,000 on Thursday, with Burke Racing Stable purchasing a share of trotter Southwind Frank for $215,000. The Southwind Frank share was consigned by Diamond Creek.
Leading the list of horses to sell Thursday was 5-year-old female trotter I D Diana (Andover Hall-Irene’s Lucky Lady), who was foaled in Norway. She was purchased for $225,000 by Euro Stall SE and consigned by Preferred Equine Marketing.
I D Diana is a three-quarter sister to Dunk The Donato, the dam of millionaire world-record-holder Plunge Blue Chip, and a half-sister to stakes-winner Thislady’sdynamite, whose Walner-sired filly Volcanic Blue Chip sold for $325,000 to top Tuesday’s second session of this year’s yearling sale.
Also topping $200,000 were female trotters Honor Thy Daughter (Donato Hanover-Honorable Daughter) and Unexpected Gift (Cantab Hall-Southwind Catlin), who each were purchased for $205,000.
Honor Thy Daughter, in foal to Muscle Hill, went to Kentuckiana Farms. Honor Thy Daughter has produced four stakes-winning fillies, including Grand Circuit winners Beautiful Game and Special Honor. Special Hill, her first foal, is the dam of recent Breeders Crown champion Special Way.
