Dolce Amara (Muscle Hill) raced on the outside the entire mile and still had just enough left to win the $80,000 Kentucky Sire Stakes for two-year-old trotting fillies Monday (July 31) at The Red Mile.

The 12th race feature saw Tactical Strike (Tactical Landing) and driver Dexter Dunn leave from the far outside in post ten and get to the lead with Stardust Volo (Scott Zeron) grabbing the two-hole trip. Meanwhile, Dolce Amara and driver Tim Tetrick were already on the outside in fifth place. The first quarter went in :27.3.

Down to the half mile in :55.3, the positions did not change but race favorite Date Night Hanover (Brian Sears) did go off-stride.

Down the backstretch Dolce Amara was able to flush out Honorable Way (Todd McCarthy) for some live cover as race leader Tactical Strike went off-stride. That left Stardust Volo on the lead by the three-quarters in 1:25.4.

As they started down the stretch, Tetrick and Dolce Amara were able to come on towards the finish to win by three-quarters of a length in 1:54.1. Honorable Way was second with Prominence (David Miller) closing well for third place.

DOLCE AMARA REPLAY

It was a lifetime mark in just the second career start for Dolce Amara. She is trained by Lucas Wallin for owner-breeder Kjell Anderson of Walchwil, Switzerland. She paid $8.44 to win.
