9-1 upset winner in Open Handicap Pace

HARRINGTON, DE – Evm Racing’s 9-1 Big Chic Magnet (Big Jim) and harness racing driver Jim Morand were a narrow nose winner in the $22,500 Open Handicap Pace Monday (April 29) at Harrington Raceway in 1:53.3.

The 6-year-old gelding rallied four-wide and edged out a flurry of horses in a blanket finish at the wire for his fourth win of the year. Trained by Mike Rossi, it was his 16^th career win. On The Cards N was placed second and Itsrockandroll A third. Live Love Lindy finished second but was disqualified and placed sixth for interference on the first turn. Big Chic Magnet paid $21.80 to win.

BIG CHIC MAGNET REPLAY

One race earlier, Moni Talks LLC’s Effingham (Sunshine Beach) with driver Allan Davis won his third straight race in 1:53 in a $45,000 claiming event. He paid $4.00 to win.

EFFINGHAM REPLAY

The rail horse won the first four races on the card, before Effingham broke the streak from post five.

Montrell Teague, Pat Berry and Allan Davis each had 3 wins on the card. Jim Morand had a double.
